Passover and Easter Lamb

Select your Passover or Easter lamb from a group of clean, healthy lambs from a grass-fed flock. We sell lambs all year 'round and the price does not increase on holidays.

We have ram (intact males) and wether (castrated males) lambs available.  They are sold on a first come, first serve basis. You may call to verify Passover lambs are available before you depart your home (we are an hour Northeast of Dallas). We cannot hold lambs without a deposit.  Reservations - You may reserve a lamb and a slaughter time by sending a deposit.  This is not required, but we can run out of lambs so check before you drive out.

Lambs are raised naturally on grass pasture. Quality animals free from unknown inputs. If you need a blemish free, organic Passover lamb, please consider one of ours.

Prices - Our Passover and Easter lambs are sold live on the basis of size and age.  Typically the range is $100.00 to $150.00 each.

Our premium live lambs are sold year 'round until we are sold out. We do not purchase auction animals and re-sell them. All our lambs are born and raised on our farm.

The First Passover
The first Passover is described in Exodus chapter 12: one lamb was slain for every household and the blood painted onto the lintels and doorposts. This was done in order that the angel of Death would not slay the first-born son of the Jewish households, but only those of Pharoah's people, whom God had warned He would judge. "When I see the blood, I will pass over you" the Lord told the children of Israel (Exodus 12:13). They were to eat the lamb, with unleavened bread and bitter herbs, in haste prior to their departure from Egypt. The eating of unleavened bread was to continue for seven days, as their sustenance to exit Egypt and escape Pharoah's slavery. God ordained that the children of Israel would commemorate the Passover every year to remember their deliverance, almost 3,450 years ago.

What age should a Passover lamb be ?  Below are the classes as defined by the USDA and the ASI (American Sheep Industry).  Keep in mind neither of these organizations were around during the first Passover.

Slaughter classes and market groups.

The classes of slaughter sheep are ram, ewe, and wether; the age groups are lambs, yearlings,

and sheep. Definitions of the respective classes and age groups are as follows:

(a) Ram. A ram is an uncastrated male ovine.

(b) Ewe. A ewe is a female ovine.

(c) Wether. A male ovine castrated when young and prior to developing the secondary

physical characteristics of a ram.

(d) Lamb. A lamb is an immature ovine, usually under 14 months of age, that has not cut its

first pair of permanent incisor teeth.

(e) Yearling. A yearling is an ovine usually between one and two years of age, that has cut its

first pair of permanent incisor teeth but has not cut the second pair.

(f) Sheep. A sheep is an ovine, usually over 24 months of age, that has cut its second pair of

permanent incisor teeth.
